Lesson in Faith & Trust

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

Over the past several months I have learned to keep my faith in God because He has a greater plan for me and He will always provide what we need. While I do have faith and trust in Him, it's still hard for me not to worry some when I see a very small amount in our savings account and our checking has no wiggle room after paying bills knowing that some major payments are due soon. The property taxes on my car are due the end of December and it's rather high since my car is fairly new and I started to worry how that was going to be paid. We didn't have enough in our savings to cover it and I knew there's no extra money after paying bills to transfer any money from our checking. Plus, with a baby on the way, I've been trying to get good deals on baby items that I know we'll need and stock up now so it's not overwhelming later when I realize the baby is almost here and nothing's ready. lol. I was very blessed the other week when a Facebook friend offered to sell me her crib & matching dresser. It was the exact color I was wanting, in perfect condition, and it was a 3-in-1 which I definitely wanted. I wasn't sure how long she'd hold onto these items before wanting to sell them to someone else so I was hoping to buy them soon, but once again I worried how we were going to pay for it. We don't have the money to even pay my car taxes, how on Earth were we going to be able to buy the baby furniture? Not to mention we're traveling to Indiana for the holidays and that 11 hour trip (one-way) isn't cheap! I had faith that things would work out, but struggled with trusting God that the finances would be there.

In the past week God has proven, once again, that I need to stop worrying and fully trust Him. Four times actually He showed me, two were big, overwhelming examples. He first showed me when we received our bi-annual safe driver check from Allstate. We get these twice a year and they're around $35. It's not much but it definitely helps. I immediately put it in our savings. The next day or so I get a check from Scott's old apartment complex with our deposit amount of $65. I knew this was coming but didn't know when and it was definite perfect timing! This went straight into savings. I was starting to have some relief since I knew we could now pay my taxes. The first big example was while I was paying bills. My car payment is due the 22nd of every month. My original 3-year financed agreement ended 10/22/13 so the remaining balance was being refinanced. And for those that don't know, when you refinance anything you generally get to skip a payment month. I wasn't sure if that was the case this time. I received my new finance agreement via mail to sign and it said my next payment date was 12/22/13 but I wanted to double check with their website when it came time to make the payment for 11/22/13. I checked the site, and no payment! That's $300 right there that we could save that month, so of course I put it in savings. That was my first big "ah ha" moment. The second time was today. Every year my company gives us a Christmas bonus if they've had a great year. Last year I was fairly new so I didn't get the full amount and when I received the envelope with my bonus today, I wasn't sure how much a bonus would be. I opened it to see $200! Thank you Lord!

I really don't understand why I worry when He proves to me time and time again that He'll take care of me. Our finances have always been the hardest thing for me to let go of. My husband and I struggled financially the first year or 2 of marriage, which is probably why it's so hard for me. We battled lots of identity theft, speeding tickets that were never sent to us, my husband got out of the army and struggled to keep a job in the civilian world and I was a college student so we had to live off of his army pay and our savings once he got out. I am so thankful for how God grew and strengthened us as a couple and so thankful that we have been financially stable (for the most part) ever since. I guess this is a continual lesson I'll have to learn, but I hope one day I can truly put all of my worries, doubts, & cares on His shoulders so I can live stress-free and worry-free. None of these are purely coincidence. This is all God's doing and He always has perfect timing. :) I am feeling very thankful and blessed.

12 Weeks! ♥

I am officially 12 weeks today & entering the 2nd trimester! I still cannot believe that I'm growing a human! So crazy! A friend of mine did weekly questions during her pregnancy last year and I knew that's what I wanted to do whenever the time came that I would be pregnant. I still don't have much of a "bump" but I'm feeling and looking more thick/bloated, but every day is different. My 11 week pic last week showed more of a bump because I was less bloated. At least that's my opinion. lol

How far along: 12 weeks!
Size of the baby: peach
Total weight gain: 0 so far. Still fluctuating within 1 lb of my pre-prego weight.
Maternity clothes: none yet
Stretch marks: none yet. I need to start using the lotion I bought 'cause my belly should start to grow soon.
Sleep: no major changes there. I have to turn from side to back during the night, but I've kinda always been that way even pre-prego.
Best moment of this week: We heard the heartbeat on Tuesday!! It was so amazing!! A healthy 165 bpm. We also took our announcement photos on Monday.
Miss anything: I miss the occasional caffeinated soda, like Cherry Coke!! I also wish I could try the new bottles of alcohol that were recently bought.
Movement: nothing yet. Can't wait til I can feel him/her move around!
Food cravings: not really
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope. I only feel queasy if I go too long without eating.
Have you started to show yet: not really. I know the "bump" is there but strangers wouldn't know.
Gender: don't know yet but I'm thinking boy.
Labor signs: luckily no! hopefully nothing happens until 36+ weeks.
Belly button in or out: still in
Wedding rings on or off: on
Happy or moody most of the time: a little of both. lol I've never been a morning person so I tend to be grumpier & more irritable in the mornings at work until I wake up. lol
Looking forward to: being able to feel the baby move!

Exciting Announcement!!

I have been itching to share our news for weeks now!!

It was late September and I was almost a week late. I decided to stop by the local dollar store on my way home from work for a few tests just so we'd know for sure. Usually my husband picks up the tests for me, but he was out of town so I had to do it this time. lol I was so nervous! I look much younger than I am and I look even younger with my braces so I didn't want anyone to see what I was buying & assume I'm a high school girl who may be in "trouble". lol I waited for the aisle to clear & quickly grabbed 2 tests and headed to the register. Only one was open and there was a long line. Luckily another one opened up so I quickly went to that one thinking she'll ring me up & no one will know! Well, after scanning my items she places my bag on the side where you put items you're buying rather than your bagged items. Then I hear "I hope I'm not an omen." I didn't even realize anyone was behind me! I turned around to see the lady behind me who was at least 20 weeks pregnant! How crazy!! I was anxious & uncomfortable, so instead of waving my wedding ring around & saying something about how happy my husband & I would be for a positive, all I said was "no, you're fine", followed by an awkward giggle and then I hurried out to my car. haha I figured it'd make for a great story if these tests turned out positive.

The next morning (9.21.13) I read the instructions & took my tests. I'd never taken these kind before but I was surprised how quickly that 2nd line showed up! I was very shocked to see 2 positives! I had little to no symptoms and thought my body was still recovering from my miscarriage this past June. Nope, I'm pregnant! lol The only signs that had me wondering were: 1) I had been overly tired the past week and 2) I was forgetting words in the middle of sentences. Prego brain struck fast apparently! I quickly called my husband and he was very excited!

At my first OB appt (10.7.13) they did an ultrasound to check for a heartbeat due to my prior miscarriage. For the few weeks leading up to my appt I was so analytical of every thing I felt and comparing it to last time. I had some bleeding a few days before my appt so, of course, I was worried I may be miscarrying again. My husband & I were both very happy & excited to see baby on the screen at my appt! We couldn't distinguish much from the blob that is our baby, but we could definitely see our baby's heart beating away! It was so amazing!! 162 bpm. :)

I had my 2nd appt yesterday for my pelvic exam and checking the heartbeat again. My doctor told me everything looked & felt great. Before checking the heartbeat she told us that sometimes it takes a minute and if she can't find a heartbeat then they'd do an ultrasound to find it that way. I was kind of hoping for the ultrasound so I could see our baby again since he/she has grown so much! She found the heartbeat fairly quickly. 165 bpm. Our healthy baby! It brought tears to my eyes and the reality sank in a little more. We're having a baby! This is real!! My doctor told me the chance of miscarriage now is very slim so I've been itching to tell the world. She also mentioned that since I'm so tiny I may not show til I'm 20 weeks, but I've taken a few weekly photos so far and will continue to take some & post them.
