40 Weeks! ♥

Officially 40 weeks!! Can't believe it! I had a feeling she'd come late. lol She's too comfortable in there and I've had no signs of her coming soon. It's crazy that this pregnancy is over and she could come any day now. It definitely looks like she's dropped so that's a good sign. We toured Labor & Delivery (finally!) on Monday so we both feel a lot better about where to go once I'm in labor and the whole process about how delivery will go and how my stay at the hospital will be. Standing in the delivery room was very surreal. Reality hit that she's coming out very, VERY soon and there's only one exit. haha I'm starting to get a bit nervous about delivery but I'm staying calm because everyone's delivery is different and it can go a hundred different ways. I had another ultrasound at my appt this past Tuesday. Baby Emily is measuring 3 weeks behind since she's a tiny 6 lbs 1 oz, which is fine because the doctors figured she'd be 6.5 lbs at birth. I had the tech confirm gender and she's still a girl. lol Her body is proportionate, she's in position and practicing breathing. :) I still haven't dilated any, but I'm almost completely effaced.

39 Weeks! ♥

ONE MORE WEEK!!! Holy cow where has the time gone? My appt was Monday and I got to see the new doctor to the practice. So my appt that usually takes an hour or less wound up taking 2 because it was his first on-call day I think. Plus he was very thorough and took his time talking to me, etc unlike the other doctors that come in, do their thing, and leave. lol He was really nice. I was hoping to have progressed some by that appt because I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions, but no such luck. Baby Emily is still very content where she is. They measured my uterus and I measured 36 cm (?), which is small again so the doctor ordered an ultrasound for my next appt to make sure she's growing like she should. I wasn't too concerned because they did this at 33 weeks and she was measuring right on track, just very tiny.

Yesterday morning, around 11:30, I realized she wasn't moving and I had been so busy with work that I couldn't remember the last time I felt her. She's usually moving around a lot and jabbing me with a fist or foot and making me uncomfortable and she hadn't done that at all. I tried poking her and jiggling her around to wake her up, but no luck. Still no movement. I was trying not to get too worried, but after 10-15 mins of unsuccessfully trying to make her move I called my dr's office. They could see me at 2pm and told me to drink orange juice. I didn't have any at work so some friends and coworkers were telling me to try ice cold water or diet coke. I tried the water, nothing. I tried Diet Coke and luckily she jabbed me a few times so I knew she was ok, but she still wasn't moving around like she normally does. A lot of people were saying she's probably just cramped, etc, but she was actively moving less than 12 hours prior. This was a drastic decrease in movement so it concerned me. I called the nurse back and told her I had felt some movement & asked if I still needed to come in. She told me to still come in if I felt like her movement still wasn't normal because it's better to be safe than sorry. Usually she's active before and after lunch, but not yesterday, so I decided to go in. Luckily my dad went with me for moral support. They hooked me up to a Non-Stress Test (NST) that monitors my contractions and baby's heartbeat and I had a button to press whenever I felt movement. These tests normally take 20-30 minutes but mine was about 45-50 minutes and I can only assume it was because how still Emily was. For the first 2/3 to 3/4 of the test she stayed very still and I only felt her move about 5-6 times. Her heartrate stayed around 135bpm. The tech came in a few times to check the graph and at this point in the test she asked me if I had felt any movement. I told her I had felt some every now & then but not much. (The graph shows marks when I press the button.) As soon as the tech left, guess who started moving like her crazy, normal self?! lol She started moving around so much making her heartrate bump up to 157-172 at times. She decided to prove me wrong. Hardheaded already....oh boy. lol I don't know what made her stay asleep so long that morning but I'm glad I still went in to check on her and learn she's ok. :) The doctor talked to me and measured my uterus again, still at 36 cm. He also told me next time she gets very still to increase my blood sugar by drinking orange juice or real coke. So FYI to all you future and currently pregnant ladies!

38 Weeks! ♥

Wow, another week down and only 2-ish more to go! I'm so ready for her to come whenever. lol I don't know how my belly continues to grow when I feel stretched out to the max as is. We're making headway with the nursery. All of her clothes & bedding are washed. I'm kinda worried I don't have enough tiny clothes to fit her. :( The doctors think she's going to be tiny and some of the newborn clothes I have I think will swallow her, but I guess we'll wait and see. I've been feeling rounder lately and based on this week's pic, I look very round, too. haha I don't know if it's a growth spurt, if she's laying weird, or if the camera angle is different but this week's belly pic makes my belly look like a basketball. haha My doctor visit went well this week. My OB/GYN was on call so I got to see her again. :) She checked me and confirmed again that Emily is super low. She said that's a good thing because it helps to soften my cervix so I'm hoping that means a quick delivery like my mom had. lol She mentioned most babies take coaxing to get down that low so it's good that she's already there. I'm still not dilated any so I guess Emily is content where she is for now.

37 Weeks! ♥

I'm officially full-term! That is so crazy to me! She could come any day now if she wanted to. :) I started my weekly visits to the doctor this week. They did my strep B test but I haven't heard the results yet. The doctor did confirm that she's head down and very low, which I figured since she's been low this entire time. I also have not dilated any, which is good I guess. So another great appt. The nursery is coming along nicely, but it's still not done. lol That's the goal this weekend. Last weekend I finally got her clothes into piles to wash and had no idea she had so much clothes already! I can't wait to dress her up in all the cute clothes!

35 vs. 37 weeks comparison. I haven't gained weight in the past 2 weeks so it's surprising to see how much she's grown in 2 weeks. :)
