The other day I noticed she has decided to pop out a little more. I've also rounded out a bit more since last week. 26 Weeks! ♥

I don't know how a 14", almost 2lb baby is in there! It's so amazing and crazy to feel her move/kick both sides of my abdomen simultaneously. I can't believe I'm at the end of the 2nd trimester already. Time is flying by. Her eyes are no longer fused shut so she can open her eyes. If for some reason she were to arrive between 27 and 32 weeks, her survival rate is 80-95%! The other day we officially hit double digits until her due date and reality hit a little, that's a little over 3 months! We still have SO much to get done. A house to thoroughly clean, we need to figure out what we're doing with the nursery furniture-wise & get stuff moved out of it, paint the walls, etc. I hope to get everything done by the end of April just in case she comes early.

How far along: 26 weeks!
Size of the baby: rutabaga

Maternity clothes: not yet

Best New Year's EVER!

This year was one of my favorite New Year's by far! It's crazy to think this is the last year it'll be just the two of us. Next New Year's Eve we'll have a 7 month old! How crazy is that??! The reason it's the best is because we got to see our precious wiggle worm finally!! My appointment was New Year's Eve morning. I haven't had an ultrasound since 7 weeks so we were mainly excited to just see Baby! We got to see the gender right off the bat. Baby cooperated for our ultrasound tech and she was able to check everything she needed to check and said everything is looking great and forming like it should. Baby is right on track size-wise, 10 oz and almost 10". We got to see both little feet and Baby kept his/her arms by his/her head the entire time, which was adorable! Towards the end Baby got squirmy from being poked so much. Enough is enough. haha I also felt Baby move for the first time the afternoon of Monday, Dec 30th. I was at another appointment and felt something roll in my lower abdomen. I knew it wasn't my stomach so it had to be Baby! Baby was also very active NYE night. Scott was able to feel it, too. Love it!! We are both so in love already with our little one. I am so excited for what this new year will bring!

I had to go to work after my appointment, but I could barely get anything done. I kept looking at the above photo in awe of how cute our little girl is! I immediately thought she looked like Scott with his nose and lips. My mom and I analyzed mine & Scott's baby photos and concluded (so far) that she has his cheeks & lips and my forehead & nose. :) I love her so much already!

Gender Predictions

I found this list several weeks ago of Old Wives Tales to predict the gender. We're finding out the gender tomorrow so I wanted to do these to see how accurate they are.

Old Wives Tale #1: Heart Rate
If the baby's heart rate is above 140 bpm, it is said that the baby will be a girl. If it is under 140 bpm, then it will be a boy.

The past 3 appts I've had Baby's heartbeat was 165 & 155, so vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #2: Shape of Belly
If you are carrying high with a big, round belly, you are having a girl. If you are carrying low with a smaller belly that sticks straight out, it's a boy.

Hmm, I think I'm carrying low but it's small & round. Not sure which gender that means. lol

Old Wives Tale #3: Ring Test
Using a string, hang your wedding ring over your pregnant belly. You are having a girl if the ring swings back and forth and it's a boy if it swings in a circle.

Another unsure one. Scott used his necklace chain to hang my ring weeks ago & it did a circle, which means boy according to this. My mom used her ring on sewing thread over my wrist & it first said one child, a boy. Then a bit later it said 3 boys & a girl. Vote boy!

Old Wives Tale #4: Shape of Mom's Face
When your face gets fuller and rounder when pregnant, it means you're going to have a girl. If your face is long and narrow, it's a boy.

I haven't really gained any & my face seems to be the same. My face has always been round/full rather than long & narrow, so girl.

Old Wives Tale #5: Key Test
This test involves a key. If you pick up a key at the top (the roundest part), you are going to have a boy. If you pick up the key at the bottom (smallest part), you are going to have a girl. If you happen to grab the key in the middle, congrats, it's twins!

I haven't grabbed keys lately but I usually grab from the top, so boy.

Old Wives Tale #6: Mayan Tale
The Mayan tale adds the mothers age at conception and the year of conception. If the result is a even number then mom is having a girl. If the result is an odd number then a boy is on the way!

Another vote boy!

Old Wives Tale #7: Drano Test
The drano test combines a tablespoon of Drano and urine together. If the mixture turns green, it's a girl. If it turns blue, it's a boy.

I have not done this one.

Old Wives Tale #8: Acne
If you have acne while pregnant, it's a girl. It's thought that acne during pregnancy is caused by the extra hormones.

I have definitely had acne, so another vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #9: Cravings
People believe that if you are craving salty foods while pregnant, you can count on having a boy. If you crave sweets, fruit, and orange juice, you are having a little girl.

I haven't really had any cravings but I have eaten a lot of fruit since I found out I was pregnant & it seems to satisfy me. So another vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #10: Smell of Garlic
If a pregnant woman eats a clove of garlic and the smell does not come out of her pores, it's a girl. If the smell seeps out of her pores, it's a boy.

Another one I have not done.

Old Wives Tale #11: Ultrasound

We'll find out tomorrow! Although ultrasounds are not guaranteed to be accurate.

Old Wives Tale #12: Skin under Left Eye
The eye test is when a "V" or "branches" appear when you pull down the skin under your left eye. If you see a "V" or "branches" in the white part, you're having a girl.

According to my husband, nothing's there. I can see my blood veins on the very bottom & there are more when I wake up first thing due to it being early. Not sure how accurate this is, so vote girl.

Old Wives Tale #13: Previous Kids
This tale only applies if you have had previous kids. If you have and that child's first word was momma, you will have a girl. If your first child's first word was dadda, you'll have a boy.

This is our first so I'm no help.

Old Wives Tale #14: History of Parent's Kids
You can find out the sex by going off of your parent's kids and the order. If you are the first born, you will have what your mother had but starting with her second child. If you are the middle child, you will have what she had, but starting with the third child. If you are the last child, you will have what your mother had in the exact order. I think this tale only works when the parent's had three kids.

That means boy, boy, girl for me. This is our first, so vote boy!

Old Wives Tale #15: Time of Conception
The person that is most aggressive in bed at the time of conception is the opposite of what the baby will be.

Vote girl! haha

Old Wives Tale #16: Legs
If your legs get really big, you're having a boy. If your legs stay in shape and lean, it's a girl.

I haven't gained much so my legs are still in shape, vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #17: Moodiness and a Little Pecker
If you are really moody, you are having a girl since you have another extra girl hormones in you. Your pregnancy will make you smile and be more happy if you are having a boy because there's a little penis inside you. Not sure how true this is, but it sure does make me laugh!

haha vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #18: Bread
If you eat the ends of bread, it's a boy. If you eat the middle of the loaf, it's a girl.

I've never liked the ends of bread and always have eaten from the middle. Another vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #19: Chinese Gender Chart
The Chinese Gender Chart claims to have an accuracy rate of over 90%. It is based on how old the mother is at conception and the month that she conceived.

Another vote girl! (Although when they calculate my "lunar" birthday & conception month, it's a boy. So who knows.)

Old Wives Tale #20: Mom's Beauty
Basically you are having a girl if your beauty disappears during pregnancy. It is said that the girl "steals" the mother's beauty. If you think that pregnancy has never made you look more beautiful, you might just be having a little boy.

Vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #21: Dream of Sex of Baby
If you have dreams that you are having a boy, you will have a girl. If you dream about having a girl, it will be a boy. Dreams show the opposite of what you are having.

The only dream I've had was before I found out I was pregnant & I dreamed I had triplets. lol

Old Wives Tale #22: Clumsy vs. Graceful
If the pregnant woman is graceful throughout her pregnancy, she's having a girl. If she becomes clumsy, she's having a boy.

I'm no more graceful or clumsy than usual, so vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #23: Toddlers
If a toddler boy expresses interest in a pregnant woman, she is having a girl. If he doesn't show interest, she's having a boy.

I'm not around toddlers to know.

Old Wives Tale #24: Side You Most Rest On
If a pregnant woman prefers to lay on her left side, she's having a boy. If she prefers resting on her right side, she's having a girl.

I've always been a side/tummy sleeper but my right side has definitely been the most comfortable one. Another vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #25: Hands
When the pregnant woman is asked to show her hands, it's a boy if she keeps her palms down and a girl if she shows her palms up.

Not sure how this predicts anything, but vote girl.

Old Wives Tale #26: Dad's Weight Gain
If the dad-to-be gains weight while you are pregnant, it's a girl. If he doesn't gain weight, you're having a boy.

Hubby hasn't really gained any.

Old Wives Tale #27: Breast Test
If a pregnant woman's left breast is larger than the right breast, she's having a girl. If the right breast is larger, it's a boy.

Vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #28: Necklace Over Hand
Have someone hold a necklace over your hand. If the necklace swings back and forth, it's a boy. If it moves in a circle, it's a girl.

My mom did this to me the other day but she grew up knowing up & down is boy, side to side is girl, the ring does a circle in between each child & a large circle when you're done. We did it to her & my grandmother and it showed all 3 of each of their kids in the correct order. Crazy! Mine showed one boy and no others. They did it a bit later and it showed 3 boys and then a girl. Not sure how accurate it is for me, but vote boy!

Old Wives Tale #29: What Do You Think?
71% of the time, the mom-to-be knows what she is having.

I'm unsure at this point. I felt more boy early on and felt girl with my miscarriage. So who knows! We'll find out tomorrow!

Old Wives Tale #30: Morning Sickness
If you had a smooth pregnancy with no morning sickness, it's a boy. If you were sick or felt really nauseous during your pregnancy, count on a girl.

I haven't been sick but I would get nauseous during the first trimester, especially if I needed to eat. Vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #31: Areolae
If your areolae (the part around your nips) have darkened, it's a boy. Considering my areolae only look like they've eaten my boobs, all while staying the same color, another sign pointing to a little girl.

^haha that was the lady's response that I got this list from and I completely agree with her! Vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #32: Protein
When a pregnant woman craves meat and cheese, count on a boy.

I haven't really craved anything, so another vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #33: Feet
Are your feet colder now that you are pregnant? If so, you just might be having a boy. If your feet have stayed the same before pregnancy and during, you're having a little girl.

According to my husband they're still just as cold as they've always been. haha Vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #34: Hair on Legs
If the hair on your legs has been growing at record speeds, you might be having a boy.

Vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #35: Hands are Dry
If your hands are constantly dry, it's a boy.

My hands are still the same as always, so vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #36: Urine
What color is your pee? If it is bright yellow, you will have a little boy. If your urine is a dull yellow, plan on a girl.

I've always thought pee color was an indicator of how hydrated you were, but this would be vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #37: Nose
Do you feel like your nose is growing and getting wider? If so, you might be having a boy.

Vote girl!

Old Wives Tale #38: Headaches
If you are having headaches, you might be carrying a boy.

I've definitely had more frequent headaches, so vote boy!

Old Wives Tale #39: Baby Names
It is said that when you can only think of specific names for a boy or a girl, you will have that particularly baby.

We could only come up with boy names early on but lately it's been mainly girl. Not sure, but vote girl!

Totals:
Girl - 23
Boy - 6

Every pregnancy is different so I know these are 50/50 accuracy. It was fun though! I've taken a poll from family, friends, & coworkers and have received almost equal amounts of both girl & boy guesses. I think slightly more girl votes though. Can't wait to find out tomorrow!!
